What to know about Hoverboards under 200 dollars

Posted by Drew Hartman on 8th Jan 2019

All hoverboards may look the same, but not all hoverboards are created equally. Despite there being only 5 popular shells that most manufacturers use, it is the internal parts that matter. As a rule of thumb, any hoverboard under 200 dollars is either on a huge discount clearance or has faulty parts or manufacturing.

All too often we receive hoverboards to repair that were bought for a knockoff price from an obscure website, or a company selling hoverboards just to make a quick buck. Just last week we did a repair on a hoverboard bought from the Shopping Network. The customer was unable to return the hoverboard and had to have it serviced through Smart Wheel. Most hoverboards should be able to get between 1.5 to 2.5 hours of use out of the box. If a device is getting less than an hour or has problems within the first week or so, this is a good indication the quality is not there.

It’s important to always look for a UL certification on hoverboards because it is a much easier product to put cheaper parts into. At Smart Wheel, we have been in business for close to 6 years and know which products and manufacturers to trust. When buying a hoverboard you will end up paying for quality. Whether that means having to pay for replacement parts or labor on a cheap board – Or paying more for a board/brand that you can trust is totally up to you.

At our test area, we are able to provide information to customers about how to ride and maintain excellent conditions - We look forward to seeing you!

If you would like to to see any product or go for a test ride feel free to come in and try it in store & If you have any other questions you can reach us at 1.888.407.4997 !
